Infrastructure

On 20 August 2024, we added Energy Capital Partners (ECP), a leading North American infrastructure investor, to our platform alongside our established private equity and credit businesses. The addition of infrastructure as an asset class strengthens our position as one of the world’s leading private asset growth investors focused on the middle market.

ECP has an over two-decade-long track record and has raised ~$30 billion of capital since inception in 2005, all of which has been spent investing in the fast-growing energy transition sector. It has an established position in the critical sectors of electricity and sustainability infrastructure (with focuses on assets and businesses in power generation, renewables, storage, recycling, waste management, digital infrastructure, carbon capture, and renewable fuels).

ECP operates across North America in an expanding subsegment of infrastructure investing which stands to be a key contributor to and beneficiary of electricity demand growth with forecasts projecting that electricity demand will nearly double over the next 15 years from current levels. The shift to electric vehicles, the decarbonisation of buildings and homes via electric appliances and heat pumps, a revitalisation of US manufacturing and the proliferation of data centres for the purposes of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are all key mega-trends transforming the opportunity set.
